AUTISM
The Oklahoma Autism Center (OAC) is changing lives for kids on the autism spectrum. As part of the OU Health Sciences Center’s Department of Pediatrics, OAC staff work hard to make sure children with autism and their families get the support they need. From early screenings and intervention to professional training and research, they are dedicated to ensuring that children with autism have access to the highest quality providers and programs.
Children in Oklahoma lack access to autism services due to cost, a shortage of certified professionals, diagnosis requirements that delay services, and the lack of care in rural areas.

OAC staff increase access to high-quality services by:
-
Bringing critical early intervention programs to rural, underserved communities
-
Training school teams, especially in under-resourced areas how to assess children for school services
-
Training medical providers, especially in underserved areas, to increase the number of professionals qualified to assess children for a medical diagnosis
-
Providing ongoing support and training to teachers and medical professionals working with children with autism
-
Not requiring a diagnosis for entry into OAC programs, reducing wait times, and increasing critical early access
-
Providing services free of cost with no income requirements
Your gift has the power to change lives! By supporting the Oklahoma Autism Center, you will help children with autism and their families here in Oklahoma get the life-changing care and support they need. Together, we can make sure the OAC continues to be a beacon of hope, offering vital programs and services that truly make a difference.
