Dance Marathon is nationwide movement involving college and high school students at more than 300 schools across the country, all raising money for their Children’s Miracle Network Hospital or foundation in their community. Students who participate in Dance Marathon in Oklahoma will help sick children in their community through Children’s Hospital Foundation. Students spend a year learning invaluable leadership and life skills while raising funds and interacting with Children’s Hospital patients and families. The year culminates with a 4-12 hour long event where the students stay on their feet through dancing, games and entertainment in celebration of the total amount raised that year. Why stay on your feet for so long? It’s FTK (FOR THE KIDS)!
How to start your own Dance Marathon
Have a group of dedicated people (between 5-15) who are as excited and passionate about the cause as you? Children’s Hospital Foundation can help you stir up interest at your school if needed, but it helps us to have an initial group to work with.
Ask a teacher or school staff member to serve as an advisor to your group. This person can help guide your planning and help with leadership development. Anyone who sees his/her role as developing students for college and career success will quickly see that Dance Marathon is an invaluable experience.
Contact Linzy at 405-271-8430 or firstname.lastname@example.org. CHF will then provide you with the resources and training sessions to ensure that your event is a success.

Activities Council and Student Life took place on Saturday, March 4th, 2017 at the Sarkeys Fitness Center . OU students stood for 12 hours in support of the kids who can't. Many Miracle Children will spend 12 hours a week in dialysis or chemo-therapy, as well as majority of nurses and doctors will stand on their feet 12 hours during a shift at Children's Hospital. Each registrant has a personal goal that they set for themselves, and friends, family members, co-workers and community support help them reach that goal! Registrants send personal emails or letters to family and friends, sell Miracle Balloons, place change buckets at restaurants, host bake sales, sell t-shirts, and so much more! Soonerthon also hosts a 5K run, golf tournament and Extra Life events. All 12 months of the year are filled with creative fundraising For The Kids.
