Prior to Piper’s arrival, her mom was diagnosed with Preeclampsia at 29 weeks and spent five weeks on bedrest. Piper was born six weeks early and contracted an infection in her lungs. She endured 8 days on a ventilator and 19 days in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Today, she no longer has to take daily medication and has checkups every 3 months. She is 2 ½ and loves to steal her sister’s shoes, lock her parents out of the house and drive her Power Wheels Escalade. Children's Hospital Foundation has a strong commitment to research projects that provide critical care to newborns like Piper!
